About Yasukochi Family Farms
Yasukochi Family Farms family story is one of strength as well as perseverance. In 1908, the family started farming in Orange County, California. In 1929, they were drawn to the mild climate of the San Luis Rey River region, and finally settling their farm in Oceanside, California. Following the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Yasukochi Family Farms family abruptly left their previous farming operation. They were evacuated to the Poston Relocation Center in Arizona along with more than 17,000 other people of Japanese ancestry who lived in the Pacific states at the time. While interred at Poston, they just lived in block 37-7-D. During this time, business associates as well as friends watched over farming operations.
