About Westport
In 1955, Westport hired the first person to go out of Thelma Sullivan. For the past 56 years, he has been an asset of the Westport Federal Credit Union and is currently the treasurer of the board of directors. Westport was built in 1965. The credit union once again decided to move to its new headquarters and has remained there ever since. The Westport Federal Credit Union subsequently acquired the St. George's Credit Union and opened a Central Village branch on 16 April 2001 on Westport Trunk Road. In 2004, the credit union had assets of $40 million and expanded membership. The expanded towns include on the Four River, Somerset, Swansea, New Bedford, Dartmouth, Fairhaven, Akushne and Freetown.
