TorqStorm was created by two car guys who were obsessed with speed and power. TorqStorm, a Wyoming, Michigan-based CNC machine shop with extensive machining capabilities, is owned by them both. A company wanted Accelerated Tooling LLC's assistance redesigning the case of an outdated supercharger that had gone out of business. Bearings, heat, and belts that broke at pressures higher than 6 psi were major issues with their previous supercharger. Because the case was made of aluminum castings, it had poor bearing location control, which led to premature bearing failure. All of these issues had to be addressed in the redesigned version, which also had to include a self-contained oiling system, get rid of the belt, look better than the original, and be a direct replacement for the original. Additionally, it had to integrate all of the company's previous components: bearings, books, etc.
