Materials, collaborators, and a venue are necessary for theater. Without Peggy Howe, Stephanie's first collaborator, the vision would never have been realized. In 1989, they started a series of shows on Monday nights at the Hotel Utah. The next year, they moved to Morty's in North Beach and then to the back room at Cafe Beano, where The Marsh started putting on over 150 shows a year. The Performers, the Audience, and everyone involved in supporting the theater's work (the Support) were now part of the collaboration. The Marsh moved into the intimate 110-seat theater at 1062 Valencia in December 1992. It purchased this 12, 000 square foot building in 1996, where the vision continues to evolve.
