THE MAKER debuts in the center of Hudson, New York's historic city, and is owned by the Fresh co-founders Lev Glazman and Alina Roytberg and hospitality specialist Damien Janowicz. THE MAKER city is named after the English explorer Henry Hudson, who sailed the river in 1609 and was the first to live there. The Mahican people (Muhhekunneuw: people of the great river) were the original inhabitants. Since being colonized in the 1700s by seafaring Nantucket Quakers seeking safety from Britain for their whaling ships, Hudson has had a stormy history. Industries have come and gone throughout history, beginning with whaling and international trade in the 18th century, followed by cotton mills in the 19th century, and cement plants in the 20th.
