About The Go Detroit
Between 1996 and 2013, Detroit, Michigan-based rock and roll band The Go Detroit released eight albums, nine singles, and a rarities box set. Their distinctive and ever-evolving sound, which was formed in Detroit in 1996, features the songwriting prowess of Bobby Harlow and John Krautner, as well as the lyrical drumming of Marc Fellis. When The Go Detroit signed a record handle Sub Pop in 1998, they stood out from their post-grunge contemporaries and were guided by legendary Los Angeles record producer Kim Fowley. Their influences included Coltrane, the Beatles, and bubblegum pop from the 1950s and 1960s. Dave Buick played bass and Jack White played guitar on their debut album, Whatcha Doin, which came out in 1999. Whatcha Doin, supported by three national tours and produced by Outrageous Cherry frontman Matthew Smith, became a foundation for the rock n roll revival at the turn of the millennium.
