About Scotia Cinema
Scotia Cinema is an independent cinema located in Scotia Village, New York, just west of Sknektadi, across the Mohawk River on Route 5. In January 1929, Scotia Cinema opened as a Leeds Theater. After several owners and name changes, including the new Scotia Theatre, the Scotia Art Theater, and finally it, it was purchased by the current owner, Richard Adams, in December 1981. The theatre has been extensively renovated while trying to maintain its old-fashioned community cinema settings. They usually don't get a movie until a month or two after it is released, and they collect tickets from about half of the first cinemas in the area. Their concession price is also much more reasonable. Their goal is to provide a clean and comfortable environment in which to watch the latest movies at an affordable price.
