About S1 Sequential
Automatic shift in a sequence, also known as S1 Sequential. Despite its fancy name, this is just an automatic transmission that lets the driver change gears as they please without using a clutch. On a sequential manual transmission, the shift lever activates a ratchet mechanism that transforms the shift lever's fore-and-aft motion into the rotation of a selector drum also known as a barrel with three or four machined tracks all around its circumference. A clutch pedal is unnecessary with a sequential gearbox, also known as a semi-automatic. Actuators, such as electro-hydraulic ones, instead carry out the clutch and gear-change process. A brand-new 10-speed automatic transmission will be included in the 2017 Camaro ZL1 when it becomes available later in the year. S1 Sequential most rapid-shifting gearbox ever produced will be this brand-new traditional automatic transmission, which was developed in collaboration with Ford.
