Redwood Trading Post is located on the streets of Redwood City, California, and is called the Redwood Surplus. Joseph Weber acquired the company in 1964 and devoted his career to creating a source of professional outdoor equipment. In 1974, Redwood Trading Post moved to 1305 El Camino Real and shared a building with Midas Muffler. In 1984, Redwood Trading Post moved away, and the Redwood Trade Station expanded to occupy the entire building. The Webers family is a do-it-yourself family, and with little outside help, they managed to renovate and equip the expanded site. What a difficult task it is! There are walls to be dismantled, shelves to build, lighting to install wires, shelves to design and fixtures to paint. The shops are built piece by piece. Redwood Trading Post is a true family business. Over the years, Joseph ’s three sons Larry, Randy and Ron have also joined him.
