Dr. Levi w. Mengele, the founder and first director of Reading Public Museum, wholeheartedly believed in the value of "sensory education. "Dr. Mangal, a teacher at reading high school for boys, used his collection of artifacts to help pass on history to his students in the early 1900s. Recognizing young people's desire for active participation and personal experience, he continued to collect scientific and anthropological materials as teaching AIDS. Thanks to Mengele’s donation and nearly 2,000 works at the St. Louis world's fair, students in reading can see, touch and learn about objects from around the world. In 1907, the third floor of the reading school district administration building was converted into Reading Public Museum, offering students an exciting hands-on learning experience.
