In the early 1950s, David Rancourt left his home in Sherbrooke, QC, Canada, to study the shoe trade in Lewiston, Maine. By 1967, he had opened his own factory, making handmade moccasins. In 1970, his eldest son worked with him to turn the fledgling moccasin store into a fully functional shoe factory, producing luxurious calfskin loafers for some of the world's best brands. Due to life's twists and turns, the factory changed ownership in the 1990s, and Michael remained at the helm. In 2008, the owner announced plans to close the Lewiston business, prompting Michael and his son Kyle to buy back and launch Rancourt in 2009. They buy the best quality materials and constantly strive to make the best shoes in the world. All Rancourt footwear is manufactured at their plant in Lewiston, Maine, USA.
