About Pizzaria Uno
The history of Pizzaria Uno begins in Chicago in 1943 when Ike Sewell created deep-dish pizza and established a brand-new dining establishment at the intersection of Ohio and Wabash. Ike served a pizza here that was unique from any other pizza ever. The buttery out-of-this-world crust had a towering edge resembling a fruit pie. He developed a recipe that included premium tomatoes, genuine Italian seasonings, and more cheese than anyone could imagine. He then cooked it for almost an hour. People have been waiting in lines outside the restaurant ever since they first tasted it and wanted more of the same. The original pizzeria in Chicago, Illinois continues to serve as the source of Pizzaria Uno identity and inspiration.
