About Pearlharbor
The location of an event that altered not only the United States but the entire world was Pearlharbor The Japanese launched their disastrous surprise attack on the unprepared base on the island of Oahu on December 7th, 1941. Many people died and more than 1,000 more were injured in the devastating offensive. The Japanese assault also compelled the United States to abandon its policy of isolation and to engage in war manufacturing, which eventually turned the tide of history in favor of the country and its allies. Visitors can now see the wreckage of the USS Arizona, one of the ships that was sunk during the attack, at Pearlharbor.
