In 1944, a Swiss engineer, designer and employee of the Swiss Swiss Railways, Hans Hilfik, made a clock called the "Swiss Railway Official Clock". In 1986, the watch company owned by the Bernheim family was inspired by the blueprint for the iconic patent design of the railway clock and transformed it into a watch collection – and was officially licensed by the Swiss Federal Railways. Since the launch of the first collection in 1986, new collections have been launched each year to ensure it appeals to consumers. Mondaine is a symbol of modern timekeeping. It has won a special favorite in global design recognition since its release in 1944. Their engineer Hans Hilfiker thought of the original - it would represent the accuracy of the transport system. To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the clock, Mondaine released two classic versions of the special edition.
