Moe's Books was founded in 1959 by Moskovitz and his wife Barbara. The original store was a small shop north of University Avenue in Shatak. He moved the store to Telegraph Avenue in the 1960s, at the middle of the Free Speech Movement and the famous anti-war demonstrations that brought Berkeley on the political map. Moe's Books began a revolution of his own, a revolution that changed the face of the old book industry.
