About Marshall House
That's what makes Marshall House one of the most interesting hotels in savannah's historic district. In 851, Mary Marshall built the four-story it. It served as a hospital for soldiers near the end of the civil war and during two yellow fever epidemics. From 1895 to 1899, the hotel was closed. It was then operated as a hotel until 1957. The hotel was renovated and reopened in 1999. Marshall House underwent a major renovation in 1999. Many of the original features are preserved: today you can see authentic 19th century doors, Windows, railings, trim strips and high ceilings. Some of the rooms feature antique claw-foot bathtubs and Broughton terrace king-size bed rooms with access to a wrought-iron balcony that has been reconstructed to replicate the building's original 1900s balconies through floor-to-ceiling Windows.
