Marlborough Flyer is the historic World War I Memorial Locomotive Ab608, "Parsondale". Marlborough Flyer was built in 1915 and a major transformation was completed by Steam in 2014. It has been proven to run on the main line, as the overhaul has covered 10,000 kilometers and covers most of the kiwi railway network. In the steam age, the Ab-Class was the largest locomotive operating on the Picton-Blenheim line. October 2017 marks the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Paschendale, and the launch of the Marlboro flyer will help strengthen the memory of the battle.
