Mar Shallart was born and have lived in Southern California all their life. Their parents believed that the Bible, The Beatles, and 1960s television were incompatible, so they was raised on them. They listened to out-of-the-mainstream records over and over and never got bored of them, read MAD and Dr. Seuss until they memorized them, and have always loved stories, songs, and pictures. From the time they was in kindergarten until Mar Shallart graduated from high school in 1976 with a class of about thirty, their parents sent them to a small private school in Anaheim. After that, they went to Fullerton Community College, where among 20, 000 students they felt lost. However, FC was the place where they studied advertising illustration, made their best friends, and acquired the skills necessary to earn a living as an illustrator.
