Mike Scuffham, a former Marshall Amps designer, launched Leafhold in 2011. Leafhold aims to bring guitar amp design into the digital age by producing high-quality, one-of-a-kind, user-friendly, and inspiring products. In the 1980s, Mike went to London to study Music Technology and Acoustics. In 1990, he joined the Marshall Amplification R&D team and worked on the highly regarded JMP-1 Midi Preamp, which was the first Marshall product to combine digital, analog, and tube technology. Before joining Akai Professional in 1996 as a member of the DD1500 software team, Mike worked on a number of other projects at Marshall Amps. Mike worked on high-end video processing equipment and other mainstream IT projects for a while before returning to guitar music technology in 2009 with the creation of S-Gear.
