Layla Bklyn is a jewelry-in-a-shop that offers beautiful decorations for the home and body. Located on Brooklyn's famous Boerum Hill, curated by Alayne Patrick, Layla Bklyn collaborates with master artisans in India to create luxurious and often one-of-a-kind jewelry, apparel and accessories and household items and bedding. Its Overlap, for example, is a series of mixed-media collages that utilize found and sourced materials. The work is part of an ongoing investigation between colour, shape and space. Each composition grows organically from the first sheet, each layer creating a new juxtaposition between light and dark, heavy and weightless as well as visible and hidden. Influenced by textile design, topographic maps and aerial photography of landscapes, they aim to create textured compositions that reflect the asymmetry and balance of their everyday lives.
