Kahn's Fine Wines grew out of Louise's love for fine wine and her inability to find any locally. Tired of driving to Chicago to buy drinks, the founder of Kahn's Fine Wines persuaded her husband to open a fine wine shop. Kahn grew up and prospered under Carroll and Louise, until she suffered a decline in health in the late 1980s. At that time, Carroll invited Jim Arnold to join him as a partner. Jim eventually bought all Kahn's in the mid-1990s.
