Iowa Safe Schools's mission is to provide a safe, supportive and nurturing learning environment and community for LGBTQ and related youth through education, outreach, publicity and direct services. All students, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning (LGBTQ), need a safe and supportive learning atmosphere. Unfortunately, bullying, harassment and discrimination against LGBTQ students often occur in their schools. Iowa Safe Schools provides comprehensive support, victim services, resources and activities for LGBTQ and alliance youth. Iowa Safety School is the largest LGBTQ youth service organization in the Midwest, serving more than 4,500 youths every year.
