A wildfire that was approaching on their newly purchased dream house in the Santa Cruz mountains forced the founder of Herrick Games and his family to evacuate in August of 2020. Because they had to leave their whole game collection behind when they had to leave two days after moving in and at a moment's notice. While being evacuated, several neighbors and friends gave models, paints, and tools so that the stressed-out evacuees could still create and escape from their daily lives. Skye's house and collection narrowly avoided destruction in the end, but many others in the neighborhood weren't as fortunate.
