Hawkins has been in business since 1959. Today it has two offices, three factories and about 800 people at work. It is the leader in the Indian pressure cooker market, and its products have been exported to various countries on six continents since 1974. Hawkins has sold more than 72 million pressure cookers and cookware worldwide. All its pressure cookers are listed by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., an independent global public safety product testing agency. Every pressure cooker it makes has an internally mounted lid. This design is inherently safer than traditional pressure cookers. To open any cooker, you must first lower the lid slightly inside the cooker until the steam pressure inside the cooker has reached a safe level before opening.
