About Hands
The Hand of Hands is a unique, multiple award-winning documentary series of 37 Irish Crafts. Produced by the famous film production team David and Sally Shaw Smith, originally for Irish TV. These intimate portraits are about personal lives because of the crafts they practice. These films capture the essence of Irish tradition and create a unique archive of life in Ireland at the end of the 20th century. Take the Donegal Weaver of Hands, this fascinating movie follows the traditional lifestyle of three McNelis brothers from Adara, the company Donegal. Conor and Jimmy are textile workers outsourcing the town of Donegal for the famous woolen mill and shop'Magi'. They saw the furnishings of the loom and the finely woven tweed.
