About FRIENDS
FRIENDS was built in 1880 to serve the silver mining area of the San Juan Mountains in southwestern Colorado. They are actively committed to preserving the rich history of the railway and the railway itself as a living museum... interpreting its history, assets and scenic tourism and restoring its assets including buildings and properties, track rights, signs and rolling stock. They looked forward to another century of the narrow-gauge steam railway, FRIENDS was recognized as (1) one of the most popular and enjoyable railway travel experiences in the world and (2) one of the best living museums in the world One. They further looked forward to their friends being famous and respected as the world's best non-profit historical railway life museum organization.
