The Association of Certified Dermatology Techs (ACDT), which was established in 2012 to provide education and certification to those working in clinical dermatology's supporting roles, is owned by them. Traditionally, Registered Nurses (RNs) held the position of "dermatology nurse. " Dermatoscopes clinical support is now much more likely to be provided by people from a wide range of backgrounds, including formally trained MAs, CNAs, and others with no prior formal medical education and whose training has been entirely on-the-job in recent decades. There have not been any educational resources created specifically for this "new era" of clinical dermatology support staff up until this point. Through their Certified Dermatology Tech® training course, the Dermatoscopes mission is to provide such training.
