Cricket Wireless LLC is a U.S. prepaid Wireless service provider founded March 17, 1999, with headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. Cricket Wireless is a wholly owned subsidiary of AT&T. It provides mobile voice, text and data through the parent company AT&T's national network. Prior to its acquisition by AT&T, Cricket's CDMA network used home networks and roaming agreements with CDMA operators such as Sprint. However, Cricket's CDMA network was shut down and spectrum was reallocated for AT&T's HSPA+ and LTE networks. Following AT&T's acquisition, Cricket Wireless launched devices using AT&T's 3G, 4G, and 4G LTE networks. Cricket wireless users with smart and unlimited plans can roam Mexico and Canada at no additional cost. Cricket Wireless points out on their old website that the CDMA service could end as early as September 2015. Except for the iphone4s, iphone5, iphone5c and iphone5s, most of the devices before the merger were not compatible on the GSM network.
