In 2007, Code One Web was founded in a University of Connecticut dorm room by a family. Their founder, junior undergraduate nursing student Richard Shok, worked as an EMT and volunteer firefighter in his hometown of Hebron, Connecticut. Rich realized that his classmates and other university students struggled to obtain CPR certification and had already obtained his certification as an instructor. Rich was passionate about providing high-quality training and had firsthand experience as an emergency responder of the impact that high-quality CPR and early defibrillation could have on a cardiac arrest. Even though his girlfriend Allison thought he was a little crazy, she helped him through the process of getting the business accredited and teaching CPR on campus while they were both in college. Now they're in the present. Even though Code One Web no longer operates out of a dorm room, their top priority is still providing accessible and high-quality training.
