Code 4 Defense was created by active police officers in 2014. In Code 4 Defense, based on their personal experience at the scene and their experience at work, they realized the need for low-profile portable holster performance and retention to be able to accommodate lights and other accessories. At first it was a personal hobby, equipped with a hydraulic press in the basement to make kydex holsters. Later, other officials and local gun enthusiasts witnessed the performance of these new holsters. Local gun shops picked up their production lines, and their working space was constantly expanding to accommodate orders. In May 2017, they moved to a new physical workshop and retail space in Mount Vernon, Iowa. They have expanded tools and technologies to further simplify holsters to improve product quality and meet custom requirements.
