About Bugsplat
Bugsplat began in 2004 as a casual side task by David Plunkett and several companions. In their previous positions, Dave and the group developed and maintained crash-reporting tools for much larger software companies. In 2004, you had to build a crash reporter if you wanted one. In the past, there was no publicly available self-service crash reporting tool. If you or your team wanted to purchase a crash reporter, the only option was a Microsoft tool that sent crash info directly to Microsoft rather than collecting crash info and giving your team access to that valuable information. That kind of missed the point for them because they need access to crash info to fix crashes and make applications more stable. When Bugsplat went live in 2004, their Sketchup colleagues were the first customers.
