Boating in DC's story begins in their New England hometown of hopkinton, Massachusetts, in 2002. It was there that an attractive man named Barry started outdoor recreation at Hopkinton park and began his boating trip. Hopkinton park is a canoe rental concession in Hopkinton state park. The word began to spread, and the business grew, spawning a group of water lovers. Soon, Barry introduced sailing, summer camp and boating season passes to the park. In 2009, Barry sold his business to a group of friends who met in the boating community and had a passion for water. Together, they maintained their vision for outdoor recreation and continued to open docks around their New England homes. They renamed the company Boating in DC.
