Bikes At Work originated as a one-person, bicycle-powered neighborhood delivery service in 1991 under the name "Fresh Aire Delivery Service" (see note below). They initially began as a grocery delivery service, but as they expanded, they added services like newspaper and periodical delivery, local business delivery, curbside recycling pickup, and even a pedicab service. Over the years, they have transported well over a million pounds of merchandise by bicycle. They quickly learned that the bicycle trailers on the market weren't suitable for the kinds of things they were hauling, so Bikes At Work started building their own bicycle trailers to suit their requirements.
