Bangkok Airlines is a Thai airline. Bangkok airways limited is a regional airline headquartered in Bangkok. Operating scheduled flights to 20 destinations in Thailand, Cambodia, China, Japan, Laos, maldives, myanmar, Singapore and Vietnam. Its main base is Bangkok's suvarnabhumi international airport. When Bangkok Airlines, the predecessor of Bangkok airways, was established in 1968, it served as an Air taxi. In 1986, it changed its name to what is now Bangkok airways and became a private airline, operating scheduled services, the first non-national airline in Thailand to operate a domestic line. Bangkok airways built its own airport on koh samui, which opened in 1989 and serves Hong Kong, Singapore and phuket. Bangkok airways officially opened its airport at Sukhothai in 1996 and its airport at tung ai phu in March 2003, mainly for passengers to elephant island.
