The magazine was published to preserve and restore the modest American home of the 20th century, the BUNGALOW, and the rich lifestyle it offered. American Bungalow is a quarterly magazine devoted to early 20th century housing, the Philosophy of the Arts and Crafts Movement, and the Bungalow. Since the first issue of American Bungalow was released in the fall of 1990, interest in bungalow architecture and artistical-art furniture, antiques and collectibles has exploded. "They seem to be everywhere. They grew up in bungalows, and later, as they traveled across the country, they became such a part of the American landscape that they took them for granted. But affordable bungalows once created civilization for bungalows. The bungalow, named for its terse principles and affinity for environment and family life, was so popular in design that it quickly spread across the land and was the home every American dreamed of owning.
