Acoem is the largest medical association in the United States dedicated to promoting the health of workers through preventive medicine, clinical care, research and education. Through the college, a dynamic team of doctors and joint health professionals of various medical practices unite to formulate positions and policies on important issues related to preventive medicine practices in and outside the workplace. Although on a national scale, Acoem is composed of local societies in the United States and Canada, and its members hold regular scientific meetings and networks. It hosts the American Occupational Health Conference every spring which is the largest conference of its kind in the country. The college also organizes continuing education courses including basic occupational medicine courses, occupational medicine committee review courses, disability assessment courses, and provides training for MRO drug/alcohol testers and commercial driving medical examiners.
