About 40 Below
It was established in the 1970s based on the serious need for effective foot protection in extreme cold environments. The founder of the company, Bill Lowe of Tacoma, Western Australia, made his first insulated boot cover called over boots in 1973. After several years of expeditions in Antarctica and all over the world, he developed the first 40 models over boot of Mount Everest™, which is widely popular and trusted in the global mountaineering industry. Today, 40 BELOWER® products with more than 40 years of experience continue to be trusted and used in the most challenging cold weather travel and expeditions around the world. Their goal is to provide functional insulation products for extreme environments. 40 Below also produces 40 Under® brand thermos bottle caps, professional clothing, and a series of 40 Under® insulation sleeves for brewing products, because 40 Below is also an active family since the 1980s Brewer.
